dayr
The very social app for the daring GenZ · Dare. Share. Grow. Everyday
Dayr is a social app where users engage in daily challenges dared by the community. Each day, users are presented with a dare, backed by evidence-based fun or beneficial activities, such as trying a new hobby, performing a random act of kindness, or sharing a motivational message. To see others' completed dares, users must submit their own evidence-based dare through a photo or video. Once done, they may react to their friends’ dayr, strengthening their bonds with them.

Problem & Opportunity
"We all share photos and videos across various apps like Instagram, TikTok, BeReal, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and even Facebook for older generations. But why do we share? Essentially, it's about seeking validation and connection. We share to showcase our lives, hobbies, and achievements, aiming to prove to ourselves and others that our lives are fulfilling and meaningful.
For Gen Z and high schoolers, this need for validation and meaning is even more pronounced. It's a crucial period in their development where they're shaping their identities.
So, could there be an app that leverages this desire for validation and connection while fostering positivity and personal growth? An app where sharing photos and videos isn't just about seeking validation but also about spreading positivity and building meaningful connections across communities?
This app would serve as a platform for users to share their experiences, achievements, and passions in a supportive and uplifting environment. It would encourage users to celebrate each other's successes, offer encouragement, and inspire one another to pursue their dreams.
In essence, it would be a space where sharing isn't just about seeking validation but about creating a positive ripple effect of empowerment and connection.
Can we replicate that format in an app while scaling it to various communities sizes (global, national, regional, friends only…)?
Inspiration & Benchmark
When delving into Gen Z trends, the landscape often revolves around prominent figures like YouTubers, streamers, and TikTokers. In France, Inoxtag and Michou epitomize this generational ethos. Their recent "dare challenge" video has made waves, garnering an astounding 3.5 million views while capturing the pulse of this demographic's interests.
Value Proposition
Dayr aims to inspire users to step out of their comfort zones, try new experiences, and contribute positively to their well-being and communities. By fostering a supportive and engaging environment, the app promotes personal growth, social connection, and a culture of daring to be one's best self.
App Core Loop
This app does not solve a pain but rather emphasizes activities we already like doing. Much like many social apps (Snap, Bereal…) which aren’t quite utilitarian but rather capitalize on our desire to make and strengthen meaningful connections with our peers
Jobs To Be Done
Pick dare interest(s) (i.e. acts of kindness, motivational dares, entertainment…)
Check your daily dare (a.k.a “dayr” neologism like a bereal, or a snap) curated by the dayr community
Submit your own dayr with photo/video based evidence to unlock and see your friend’s ones
React to your friends dayr & bond with them
…Start over the next day!
